We all knows that bird nest is beneficial to our health. But when it comes to the preparation process…
- First, soak the bird’s nest overnight in cool water
- The nest should be clean of all impurities
- If the bird’s nest still contains impurities, it’s best to clean the nest one more time
- Bring a pot of water to a boil, and boil the bird’s nest for 10 minutes, then drain and rinse with cool water
- If the bird nest is clean to serve, then soak it overnight and drain
- Then, bring a pot with 6 cups of water to a low simmer. Add in the drained bird’s nest and jujubes
- Last but not least, keep the heat on low – because boiling would break the delicate bird’s nest. Aim for the smallest bubbles possible
- Lastly, cook for 30 minutes – 2 hours

As I’m a very city person with busy daily routine, convenience is my priority then follow by health concern.

Shandon birdnest does not consist of preservatives and chemicals. Thus, we have to place our bird nest in the fridge to maintain the freshness. Best freshness is within 15 days. However it can last for 30 days if refrigerated well after receiving it. Furthermore, bird nest is water soluble protein, it may dilute (turns watery) after sometime.
